Here's what I REALLY think about MICROSTIFT (micro$oft)

visitors

Here's to Micro$oft knockers!

Heads-up about getting WinXP to replace your Vista Operating System.

... this is the word... ... this is the word... ... this is the word... ... this is the word...

Bill's comment at http://freewarewiki.pbwiki.com/YackPack

For those (like myself) who have tried Linux and decided it's not quite ready for prime time, there is another option besides a Mac.

Many suppliers, including TigerDirect, are still offering Windows XP, both on machines and shrink-wrapped. Dell just announced that they will offer it on select machines in lieu of Vista. Other manufacturers will follow suit, I expect, since it is widly accepted across the industry that Vista is really still in Beta, no matter what Bill Gates claims.

According to Micro$oft's Support Lifecycle Pages the US support for XP will, in practically all cases, extend to 4/14/2009 for mainstream support and 4/8/2014 for extended support.

This is ample time for the various Linux distros to finish getting their acts together, and anyone who is seriously contemplating Linux in its current forms should have no problem keeping XP running for a long time.

As some know, I'm a Micro$oft knocker, but the fact is that apart from a Mac it's the most stable OS that won't kill a bunch of your favorite applications, and it's well-tested and reasonably secure if you don't use Internet Exploder (or if you keep IE scrupulously patched).

My own solution: XP Pro SP2 with Firefox and OpenOffice 2.0, and all open source peripherals -- Microsoft utilities all disabled when possible.

HASTA LA VISTA

-- usually returns the phrase to mean "until I see you later"

... BUT in micro$ofts newest language, "until I get more of your money"

... or, (We'll get away with it anyway, we're micro$oft, Cya L8r).

YES, after reading the many reviews,

you are right in thinking that

I am more than irked at MICRO$TIFT!

-- MS knew better and still released the shady Vista version (and with less driver support ever) because they could!

WHY am I so rattled?

I just talked to a friend of mine that has nephews stationed in Iraq, and one of them bought a Vista computer from the BX (that's a military store, for those who didn't know). Now his new Vista won't let him beyond bootup. Also, more of our military has bought these machines AND most of them cannot access a BX anytime they want. Thad says he won't have a chance to return it for at least two weeks, and that's if his orders don't change. By that time the 30 days are up and he's lost his money because he doesn't know any geeks in Iraq. What a thing to do to our military that is already using food stamps.

To ice the cake ...

I visited microsoft.com last night and saw they are selling codecs for their CD/DVD malfunction.

-- I remember the MS scoldings when they were about to sell an anti-virus program when their systems were the proven flaw.

-- Is Bill justifying his actions by giving our money away to the needy?

-- That does it for me. I won't buy or promote MS products anymore!

What a NERD!
